Lafayette v. Indiana, Live Updates…

Final: Indiana escapes with a 91-66 win. Next up: Butler and it’s guard-orieanted attack. Could be trouble.

The Hoosiers are finally pulling away. Earl Calloway, with a big second half, has 22 points. IU is up 75-60 with 5:13 left after a Mike White steal and dunk.
IU up just 53-50 with 15:19 left. D.J. White and Ratliff both have four fouls. Sampson has been biting his lip. This is turning into a tough game.

Ugly ending to the first half for Indiana. After jumping out to a 26-10 lead early, the Hoosiers are ahead just 42-37 at half. They are shooting 63 percent, but have made 13 turnovers and are allowing Lafayette to shoot 50 percent.
Mike White has come in and powered his way to a game-high 10 points near the basket. D.J. White has three fouls in only four minutes of play and is on the bench. Indiana looked like it was going to pull away, but the Leopards are hanging in there. It’s 39-30 IU with 3:46 left in the half.
Joey Shaw has come into the game and put up a quick four points. On one play he seperated and snuck down along the baseline to catch a pass and finish with a jam. On another he started to drive and then pulled up to hit about a 10-footer. Hoosiers lead 21-10 with 11:18 left in the first half.

Indiana looking shaky early, but Ratliff playing well. He has a 3 and a dunk, and he just stole a pass and then finished the fast break on a nice alley-oop pass from Armon Bassett. IU 9-6 with 14:54 left in the half.

Hoosiers three possessions, no points. Fouls on White and Wilmont, three Lafayette free throws, Leopards 3-0. IU a rough start as D.J. picks up his second foul at the 18:20 mark.
Any right-before-the-game predictions out there?

It looks like IU will have the same starting lineup as the exhibition games – White, Wilmont, Allen, Ratliff and Calloway.
There’s 18 minutes until the start of the game. Conseco is at best half full at this point, probably because there were a lot of Butler and Notre Dame fans here for the first game that have left. I can’t see the court right now because the cheerleaders are right in our face and blocking our view. Poor me.
Doug and I have taken our seats courtside at Conseco Fieldhouse. There’s still another 40 minutes until tipoff so we’re just sort of observing warm ups.

The whole Indiana team is out there. Coach Kelvin Sampson told us Friday that the flu bug is going around but it doesn’t appear that anyonhe will miss this game due to sickness.

  1. I hate complaining about the officiating – but this is one of the worst displays from the Zebras I have seen outside the NFL

  2. Got so tired of listening to Vitale rant about Bob Knight that I turned sound down and Don Fischer on — what an improvement — besides, he knows if the shot goes in before it is taken.
