Michigan State freshman forward Raymar Morgan has been cleared to play by doctors, MSU assistant sports information director Matt Larson confirmed Saturday morning.

Morgan has been out five weeks and seven games with an early-stage stress fracture in his right shin. He participated in parts of Friday’s practice and will come off the bench in MSU’s game Sunday at Indiana.

Morgan, a 6-foot-7 freshman and the team’s second-leading scorer at 11.7 points a game, likely will be limited to a few minutes against the Hoosiers.

Sophomore guard Maurice Joseph also will play for the second straight game, after missing four games with a similar injury in his right foot.

Joseph is still experiencing some pain — he sat out Friday — but he’s expected to contribute Sunday. Joseph played 16 minutes, scoring nine points, in MSU’s loss Thursday at Iowa.
