IU-Purdue basketball game could be postponed

With Lafayette in one of the areas of Indiana hit hardest by today’s winter storm, it’s up in the air whether tomorrow’s Indiana-Purdue basketball game will be played or postponed.

Lafayette, which is currently under a blizzard advisory, had four or five inches of snow on the ground early this morning, according to the Lafayette Journal & Courier, and is expecting a foot of snow by midnight.

Purdue basketball spokesman Elliot Bloom said university officials are conferring this afternoon with local law enforcement officials and will issue an update by 6 tonight on where they stand in deciding whether tomorrow night’s game will be played as scheduled.

Tippecanoe County and five counties surrounding it have declared snow emergencies today, asking residents to stay off the roadways because the roads are deemed too dangerous to drive .

Purdue University announced this morning a 24-hour recess from noon today until noon tomorrow in which classes will not being held and most university employees have been asked to go home.
