First-half analysis

Despite the score, I’m not ready to say this is the ninth best team in the country right now. True, it is not really having any trouble beating an undermanned North Alabama squad, but the Hoosiers have a lot of getting better to do.

This isn’t to say IU hasn’t looked good at times. The Hoosiers certainly have. But it’s exhibition, and they need to work on some things before they’re ready to face big time opponents like Georgia Tech, Southern Illinois and Kentucky.

The positives:

  • D.J. White: The senior captain has been excellent through the first twenty minutes on both ends of the court. He has 11 points to go with his three blocks.
  • Jordan Crawford: The first Hoosier off the bench will be a key player for IU this year. He’s fast, agile and aggressive on the offensive end. It will be tough for defenses to slow him down this season.

The negatives:

  • Eric Gordon: although impressive on offense as always, needs to improve his defense.
  • Turnovers: IU has been sloppy with the ball, coughing it up nine times to the Lions

The second half should tell us more. We’ll keep you updated.
