First half recap

Dantrell Savage runs from Jammie Kirlew.

This fact probably didn’t escape you even without the benefit of statistics, but the first half stats show Oklahoma State dominating this game on offense and defense. The Cowboys, who have not yet punted, have 130 yards rushing to 65 for IU, with quarterback Zac Robinson leading the way with 64 yards on 11 carries (5.8 ypc). Both OSU running backs, Savage and Hunter, are also averaging at least five a carry.

IU’s Marcus Thigpen has six carries and just six yards, while Bryan Payton has three carries for 12 yards. We haven’t seen Demetrius McCray, but it doesn’t stagger the imagination to think he might surpass Thigpen’s production if given a shot in the second half.

Robinson is 15-of-20 for 192 yards passing with two touchdowns. IU’s Kellen Lewis is 14-of-26 for 131 yards. OSU has held James Hardy to two catches for 20 yards. OSU’s Dez Bryant is the game’s top receiver with 65 yards on six catches.

Total yards: OSU, 43 plays for 322 yards; IU, 43 plays for 196 yards.
