Ellis practicing, is expected to play

Indiana junior guard Jamarcus Ellis is expected to play tomorrow night when the Hoosiers play either Minnesota or Northwestern at 9 p.m. He is practicing with the team today.

Ellis was suspended for the Hoosiers’ final game of the season at Penn State and spent the week trying to work his way back into the good graces of interim coach Dan Dakich.

On Tuesday, Dakich described Ellis’ status as “up in the air” but also said his return was “up to him.”

Ellis, who was the only conference player to finish in the top 10 in rebounds, steals and assists, was an honorable mention all-Big Ten selection by the media.

Dakich has not said what Ellis did to get suspended.

  1. I, for one, am relieved. I sure hope JE and DD have cleared the air and are starting to build a working relationship!!

  2. couldn’t agree more with you Bob. I hope he removed his head from his arse and is ready to go. I’m looking forward to seeing him play Friday night, he has been an important piece to the team this year. Do the right thing DD…

  3. I hope all the current players realize that no matter who the coach is next season there will be a great opportunity for playing time in a big time conference if they choose to stick it out.

With DJ and EJ likely gone and Stemler and M. White definitely gone there will be several minutes available.

Bassett, Crawford, Ellis and Holman would be a great group to build a team around. Still not sure about D. Thomas. He’d have to drop a lot more weight to be effective.

  4. Sure hope we play D and hit some threes. Not too concerned about next year until we get a coach and hear from the judge. I feel for the kids that are staying, but my excitement level is at an all time low.

  5. My excitement level is actually very high. I am so anxious to see who the next coach is and who our players are next year. I am just anxious for a new era at Indiana.

  6. I am very excited as well, but not because of getting to find out who our 4th coach will be in 8 years. Thats not exciting to me. Thats borderline embarassing as a recent alum. I am excited about seeing if this team will come together or fold. They are on the edge of the cliff. Ever since KS “resigned” we have lost our defensive identity and some players have lost their will to play hard for IU. Either this team comes together now or we wasted a very rewarding, but tough, year. That would be a shame.

Fans can talk all they want about next year, but I hope these kids havent forgotten that all their blood, sweat, and tears have given them the opportunity to make something special happen THIS YEAR.

    Go Hoosiers!!!

  7. don’t hold your breath for an iu tourney run. you take away a beloved coach and the season is over. if you wanted sampson fired immediately instead of after the season, as should have been done, don’t complain when the team goes in the tank. on top of that, all of our guards are young, and 2 are extremely reckless. teams with veteran guards tend to play better in the tourney. i hope to hell i’m wrong.

  8. Boiler Up is perhaps the worst cheer in all of sports. Seriously, it literally makes no sense.
