Hoosiers eliminated

The Indiana baseball team was unable to stave off elimination for the fourth straight game, falling 11-7 to Purdue in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals Saturday afternoon in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The Boilers scored in every inning but the first as the Hoosiers never saw the lead.

Chris Hervey paced the IU offense, going 3-for-4 witht three RBIs. Josh Phegley also was 3-for-4.

Purdue advances to take on top-seeded Michigan, and must beat the Wolverines both tonight and Sunday to win the title.

  1. They played a good game, Purdue’s defense was just too strong. This is gonna be a fun team to watch next year as only four seniors are graduating. Hopefully they’ll generate some buzz — it’d be great to see some more baseball coverage on the Scoop!

  2. We did well this tournament. Only Cox was a Senior in the lineup. I’m optimistic for the future. A bit irritated over the loss but hey, I was ecstatic that we were even in the Semifinals.

  3. Finished with a winning record this year and have a good recruiting class coming in to add with the many returning stars….IU baseball is looking up!

  4. I don’t know a lot about the recruiting class this year, but the new stadium should definitely help recruiting moving forward.
