  1. That is interesting, but I am still having trouble buying into Ball State being this great team everyone thinks they are.

They ran over Northeastern, a team whose seniors were 10-23 coming into that game.

Next they had Navy in Muncie. It was a 28-23 game at the end of 3. BSU added a score in the 4th to make it 35-23. Navy turned around and got beat 41-31 buy Duke.

Then they beat up on Akron who got pounded by Wisconsin, beat Syracuse (who got killed by Northwestern and Penn State) in a game that was still a 1 score game with under 3 minutes left to play.

I will say this, BSU has took care of business, your job is to play and beat the competition in front of you, they have done that, and have been fairly convincing in those wins, I just don’t buy into them yet.

  2. I hope they come in to Bloomington overconfident, thinking they’re gonna finally stick it to us after giving one away 2 years ago and not playing very well last year against us…but instead the Hoosiers are just as fired up to show Ball State we’re for real more than they are and hear a crowd like the one against Kentucky in ’05 and we just hammer them like we did UK. Same type of scenario with it being a night game at least and I think it was our 3rd game of the year back then too. That was a great crowd even if it wasn’t a sellout. Hopefully we’ll have at least 40,000 there to support the Hoosiers. Let’s get it done Hoosier fans!

  3. Agreed, Mike P. BSU looked sharp, but look at who they’re playing. I mean they did what they had to do, but they are not facing top 25 talent… I think the game might be tight, but IU should be able to pull out the W… And based on the media and coaches, I guess we should be considered for the top 25 if we win combined with our beat downs over Murray State and Western Ky.

  4. PLEASE put them in the top 25! Please!!! They would be there for all of 3 days cause we are gonna wax those Cards….

  5. GO BALL STATE the cards are looking good and Mike P was incorrect in most of those stats ive been at every game including akron and akron was never within one score in the 4th quarter. and Ball state was never in danger of losing the navy game. we will make kellen lewis eat his words this saturday when BSU stomps indiana

  6. drew d –

I was incorrect on most of my stats? Please enlighten us to what you think I was wrong on?

Do you dispute that Northeastern’s seniors (4th year, not 5th) entered the BSU game with a 10-23 record over their previous 3 seasons? If you don’t believe me, please look it up for yourself.

I was not saying that Akron was within a score of BSU, I was saying the Akron/Syracuse game was a 1 score game with under 3 minutes left in the game. I worded it badly, that is my fault.

I don’t remember saying BSU was in danger of losing the Navy game. Nope, don’t believe I did. What I did say was at the end of the 3rd quarter it was a 5 point game, 28-23, and that BSU added a touchdown in the 4th quarter to get the final margin of victory of 35-23, do you dispute that the game played out that way? If so, then EVERY box score in the country was and is wrong?

Let me ask you a question, do they teach reading comprehension up there in Muncie? Don’t come on this board making stupid accusations, you are WAY out of your league, just like the MAC is when any of them play the Big Ten.

  7. Hey Drew, can you read?

I heard the same crap last year from BSU fans (before we crushed you). You have never beat us, and we haven’t lost to a MAC team in over 30 years. That isn’t going to change this weekend.

  8. Why do IU grads instantly try to invoke some sort of academic superiority over BSU when it comes to smack talk on these boards? I grew up in Bloomington and surprisingly, I chose BSU because of academics!

Anyway, back to sports. IU should win, you have the facilities, the money, and play in a bigger conference. Now, if BSU happens to win, is it an upset? Maybe, maybe not? Ball State has the experience, but you are playing at home and have that advantage from that standpoint. Should be a good game, but I hope that IU fans, many of whom I will be sitting with, have the sportsmanship to say “good game” if BSU should win. If we lose, then I say, “congrats.” I will give no excuses, as I hope I hear none in return.

    See you on Saturday night.

  9. Bloomington Native-BSU Grad,

I believe in sportsmanship. However, when someone comes in and says I am wrong with out any factual evidence (where mine exist), then yes I am going to go back at them and call them out, and in this case letting him know he is out of his league when trying to take me on.

As far as the game, if BSU wins, there will be no excuse except that IU was out played. I will gladly say good game.

I have many friends who have attended BSU, my brother-in-law is a Muncie native and his parents are both professors at BSU.

I myself am not an IU Alumni, my professional field of choice is not a curriculum offered by IU, but I am a Hoosier, having grown up in Bloomington, and following IU athletics my entire life.

    Enjoy the game,
    Mike P.

  10. To Mike P.

The MAC shouldn’t regularly compete with the Big Ten. After all, the Big Ten teams do have more money, better facilities, and a tradition. However, I must say that the Big Ten is way out of their league when they play anyone from the SEC or PAC-10. The Big Ten is still living in the 90’s which is why Ball State will beat IU and then go on to bigger and better things like a bowl game!

By the way…good luck with that coach of yours down there…He really showed the quality coach he is when he ran BSU in the ground.

  11. I still haven’t heard an actual football related reason as to why Ball State will win this year, after getting crushed last year. Seems like a lot of hype and BS to me.

  12. BSU,

The Big Ten has struggled with the Pac-10 in recent years. There is no doubt about that.

The Big Ten is out of our league against anyone from the SEC huh?

You are just like drew d, you are out of your league here. Bring some substance to your post, or stay off the board. You make it to easy.

The Big Ten and SEC are 7-7 in bowl games over the last 5 years. That is a tie. Out of our league? Looks like we are dead even. You’re just like every other irrational SEC fan I come across. You only look at the big stage games in which we struggled, not the entire body of work.

What is the MAC’s record vs. the Big Ten? That’s right, the MAC is 5-62 over the last 5 seasons, and is 0-6 vs. the Big Ten already this year, and should be 0-9 after Saturday.

  13. Bloomington native-BSU grad

The only reason I brought up academics here was because someone who came to talk smack (drew d) clearly couldn’t read, write or type well and it’s an easy joke.

I agree with your comments. However, after seeing bsufans.com, I’m more concerned about BSU fans going crazy, win or loss. I’ll be disappointed if we lose, of course, but not like I would be in a rival game or something.

    BSU-

Bill Lynch has to recruit people to come to Ball State?!! No wonder he couldnt succeed. Brady Hoke must be the smoothest talker in coaching.

  14. Every year the in state rivals want to blog and talk a bunch of garbage. Last year PU fans did it and then when the game was over…nothing. Hope that happens this year too with Ball State!!

  15. Don’t come on this board making stupid accusations, you are WAY out of your league, just like the MAC is when any of them play the Big Ten. haha I hope that you had fun eating those words Mike P! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

You too Jimmy. You have never beat us, and we haven’t lost to a MAC team in over 30 years. That isn’t going to change this weekend.I/> hahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

    What an embarrassment IU hahahaha

Football aside, can the hypocritical elitism be any more blatant here?
