Thursday 11 a.m. Q&A

It’s a new beginning. The Hoosiers have a win in men’s basketball, a group of signees in football and a big game in women’s basketball tonight after last Sunday’s loss at OSU.

Please join us to chat about it all during our weekly Q&A. Submit your comments and questions in advance, and stop by live to follow the conversation from 11 to noon, by clicking here.

  1. Is it possible that IU will still be adding another recruit or two? I see that S Fred Barnes, RB Cory Akins, and WR Fritz Rock have not yet committed.

  2. What is the status of Lawrence Barnett’s ankle? Given the lack of depth at cornerback, does Coach Lynch think Lawrence will be able to compete for playing time this year?

  3. Higgi,

Coach Lynch said yesterday that IU could still sign another recruit or two, but that there’s nobody lined up at this point to sign soon. If there’s anybody else to be signed, they don’t know who it will be at this point.

Barnett’s ankle that he injured at this start of football season is fine now. He is playing high school basketball this season. Lynch said that he wasn’t going to talk at this point about who might compete for playing time among the incoming freshmen because you can’t really tell until they get here, but kicker Mitch Ewald has a chance to play right away because of the vacancy at that position.

My own take on the cornerback situation is that the problem is a lack of Big Ten level quality among the potential starters, more so than a lack of depth. There are a number of candidates to play, but no budding Tracy Porter’s at this point.
