IT’S INDIANA

AROUND THE BIG TEN

TAKE A LOOK

Really excited to see “Crazy Heart,” the new country western movie with Jeff Bridges, in a couple of weeks when it makes it way to Bloomington. In the meantime, I am digging the main song — Ryan Bingham’s “The Weary Kind.”

  1. Free throw shooting is BB-101.

Players should never watch the flight of the ball. Eyes should always be focused on the front of the rim. I notice Saturday Indiana players (Elston and Wattford) missed the first of 1 and 1 late in the game. Both players watched the flight of the ball when shooting. I hope someone will address this with the players. Indiana was 2 of 8 shooting free throws late in the game.

  2. Watford is shooting almost 80% from the line and has been to the line 73 times this year, second to Jones by one. When you take how many times he has been to the line into account, one could argue he is the best free throw shooter on the team. I will agree that Elston needs some help along with Rivers and Pricthard.

  3. Interesting point, J Hendrick. Even the best free throw shooters need to be reminded of the fundamentals, particularly at the end of a hard-fought game.

I can recall when IU used to make as many free throws as the opponent attempted. Our young team has yet to find that composure, but I believe that it is coming – you can see this team growing each game.
