The Indiana draft hopefuls who didn’t have their hopes fulfilled are at least finding homes for camp.
Safety Nick Polk and linebacker Will Patterson have agreed to free agent contracts with the Houston Texans according to Polk. Linebacker Matt Mayberry has signed with the Chicago Bears according to his agent and tight end Troy Wagner has signed a contract with the Cleveland Browns according to his agent. With Rodger Saffold (second round, St. Louis Rams) Jammie Kirlew (Seventh round, Denver Broncos) and Ray Fisher (seventh round, Indianapolis Colts) all going in the draft, the only IU player with an agent whose plans are unknown at this time are those of defensive end Greg Middleton. His agent did not immediately (and by immediately, I literally mean in the last minute) return a call seeking comment.
More on this as it happens.
This is good for these players and draws positive attention to the IU program.
Out of curiosity, did Kellen Lewis sign with anyone?
Husky Tom leaves to tend to more pressing matters and this blog goes from beach party at Surf City to soggy cake left in the rain at MacArthur Park.
Hurry back, friend.
Middleton’s father posted on his Facebook page that Greag has a 3 day try out with the Buccaneers. Thanks for the info and GO HOOSIERS!!
Did Scoops music buff, Hugh, know Dumbledore once baked 45rpm cakes in the 1960’s rain before moving to Hogwarts?
Good for these guys and I love the Colts got Fisher. They let a great return guy in Roby go and I hope they keep Fisher!
Jamie Kirlew will make the Bronco’s roster, and Matt Mayberry will be a starting OLB with the Bears in 3 years.
J Pat, should be a fine competition for the return position between Fisher, Devin Moore a RB from Ritter HS and a player by the name of Brandon James from Florida who was a RB or WR. All three were true return men in college.
HC, I did not know that…thanks! I will enjoy watching.
Did I just read correctly that Middleton only scored a six on his Wonderlic Test?
I THINK WILL PATTERSON AND NICK POLK WILL BE GREAT ASSETS TO THE HOUSTON TEXANS!!!!!! GO TEXANS!!! AND I LIVE IN COLT COUNTRY BUT THE HOUSTONS JUST GOT A NUMBER OF NEW FANS>
