  1. The Cavaliers and Clippers are showing an interest in Kelvin Sampson as their next head coach, Yahoo!’s Adrian Wojnarowski writes.

    YES!

  2. For now, the Cavaliers’ interest appears to be in the fact-finding phase, but some league personnel believe it’s just a matter of time until Sampson becomes a legitimate head coaching candidate in the NBA. The Los Angeles Clippers also have shown some interest in Sampson for their coaching vacancy, league sources said.

The man knew his basketball. The last two games he coached in Assembly Hall the Hoosiers were simply on fire. That idiot Greenspan’s job was to protect the program and the coach but he decided it’s a good idea to lock the recovering addict alone in a room with his addiction. Boasted for a while that he hired him on his webpage, then started copping out on the issue later. Finally, he made a quick hire, took a hefty severance pay and left. He’s the main culprit. He destroyed everything.

  3. Greenspan did do a lot of damage to the program. I am glad he is out of here, not really sold on Glass yet though either. Love the picture.

  4. You could not be more wrong, Miles Brand swung for the fence at IU to get the NCAA top job.

  5. Here is today’s impartial, truth-seeking question that we would like the Three Sportswriter Amigos to ask recruits:

Three Amigos: “So Kevin, we see that IU is on your list of schools. Tom Crean only went to one Final Four and it was all because of Dwayne Wade. IU also hasn’t won a championship since before the Internet and the fall of communism. How is this affecting your decision process?”

Kevin Ferrell: “Wow, do you guys work for the Lafayette paper or the Bloomington one?”

  7. Smarmy…now that a great adjective for the apologists on here.
“Recruiting question of the day” How great is it that we have plenty of open scholarships for the coveted 2011 class?

“Answer” Its a relief that we have the ability to sign the talent we have been talking about for 3 years.

  8. True, The Crean Apologists have been talking since 2008 that the 2011 recruiting class is where Tan Cream would make his mark. The state is loaded with talent.
If he fails they will just say he really needed 5 recruiting classes so 2012 will be the year.
Maybe 2015, he did come in during hard times…..

  9. Ok. I get that you have to ask questions and be reporters and write things that don’t endear yourselves to the masses. Cool.

But do you really have to link to Marquette opinion blogs? It isn’t news. Its not. Its just internet crap that anybody can find on their own, even 4guards could.

You are under no ethical or professional obligation to link to it. You might as well establish permanent links to Purdue and Kentucky blogs too. What’s the difference?

I think this is the second time you’ve linked to anti-Crean Marquette blog stuff and I really don’t understand the thinking at all.

On to baseball. The key to tournament baseball at any level is to not beat yourselves, but unfortunately the Hoosiers did that in the second inning yesterday with 4 errors.

  10. 4guards and JB don’t know the difference between an apology and support. An apology is what they owe the rest of us for they daily load of crap. Support is what I provide the coach of my team. There’s a big difference.

  11. GFDave, wasn’t all that support based on the fact he did such a tremendous job at Marquette? Look what he left behind… a ton of happy campers who fondly remember him.

  12. GFDave,

I linked to it once on a very slow news day. I linked to it today because they had finished doing what they were doing.
I link to blogs all the time. Inside the Hall, ESPN, even Yahoo! on occasion. The Internet is such that all this information is out there and it is not always coming from traditional media sources. When I find it interesting, I link to it. How much stock should we take in a Marquette blog that obviously has some resentment towards Tom Crean? I don’t know. There’s a lot of bitterness towards any coach who leaves, and some will harp on the mistakes and forget the positives (Dwyane Wade, a Final Four, a rise in prestige that allowed the school to join the Big East).
We’re not trying to sway anyone’s opinion with Hoosier Morning. It’s just a post to show you what is going on and what is being said out there.

  13. Quite possibly a link to a post about the Indy 500 of 2010 would have succeeded to fill a no-news day and would have been more interesting, but it would not have fulfilled the stir the pot agenda.

  14. Cold Off The Press: Scoopsquatch on the Trail…HT pulls no punches! Hard-hitting questions straight from 4guards to the recruits.

“We couldn’t help but notice you were vigorously clapping during your short rest on the bench. Is that a skill you bring that will fit in well with how Crean draws things up on the clapboard? It seems you do a nice job with creating the high decibel move emitted from slapping 4fingers into the center of an opposing sweaty defenseless palm…Can you bring it on a nightly basis? I know Crean has immediate opportunities to give you substantial chunks of minutes on the floor…Are you a bit worried this amount of playing time could take away from showcasing the 5-star clapping skills you bring when jumping off the bench just before a timeout huddle? It’s just kind of a clap-clogged situation right now..Hope it doesn’t make you uncomfortable, but we think it’s something that Clapping Crean Nation needs to know.

Really appreciate your time here…Last couple questions…Did you know the head coach from Kentucky can form the sentence “I clap air” from all the letters in his last name? Could that influence your decision<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSgt_aOqSxs”>?”

  15. Oops…

Did you know the head coach from Kentucky can form the sentence “I clap air” from all the letters in his last name? Could that influence your decision?

  16. The Tubby article appears to reinforce what I was saying the other day about Tubby not having the best judgement on the recruiting trail.

  17. Yeah he was much better when he had the Kentucky brand behind him. Interesting how even Minnesota knows coaches have 4 years to cut out the blame game and start producing. BTW is it just me or is Crean’s face the same color as the basketball in that picture?

  18. Put a huge pair of glasses on that ball and I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

  19. I think it’s more telling what a school says about their coach *before* they leave. Regardless of what people are saying after the fact, Crean was a popular guy up there until he spurned them.

  20. 4guards, I thought you were all about being polite while hating? No name calling, huh? I think of you as a medieval wart laden troll, huddled under a bridge, and snarling hateful epithets at the peasants as they walk by.

Marquette, he had a good record there and earned this shot with IU. I know you’ve noticed that the loudest voices are not the ones in support. Yours included.

  21. Just a thought…I wonder what the IU search would’ve looked like if it had been as publicized as the Oregon search. I’m not saying that Crean didn’t “earn” a shot to coach at IU…I would just be curious as to who was contacted.

  22. Do 4tards and JB sit in a room together when they post? Their posts are literally minutes apart. Why don’t you just turn your chairs and talk to each other? You guys aren’t even trying anymore.

  23. I think it’s more telling what a school says about their coach *before* they leave. Regardless of what people are saying after the fact, Crean was a popular guy up there until he spurned them.

    He wasn’t. Take a look.

    GFDave:

I have yet to read anything more hateful on this blog than some of the things you post. And I subscribe to what somebody once wrote on this blog: “they say that what you put on to others is what you truly feel about yourself”. Crean earned his shot because Greenspan hired him. Because IU was in ruin. Because as the link above shows the Marquette fans were getting fed up with his antics 9clap! clap! clap!). Read.

  24. Thanks for the link, Marquette, but I read hundreds of posts on a Marquette fan website when he was first hired and right up until he officially announced he was leaving people were obviously pretty happy. The vast majority of posters were either upset at him for leaving (because they wanted him to stay) or took it in stride and was thankful he had made their program relevant again. Sure, there were a number of “good riddance because I never liked him anyway” posters, but they didn’t have the guts to post that before he left (or they didn’t really feel that way and was just upset at the news). So, thanks again, but it’s going to take more than one link of anecdotal evidence to convince me that Crean wasn’t well-liked during his tenure at MU.

  25. Cowboy Chris-

What a piece of work you are. So a sportsblog is an accurate place to measure the pulse of a university’s feelings for a coach?

The internet is mostly a place for faceless, ill-informed whining wussies and malcontents (myself sometimes included) to complain about yet another issue that is ruining their precious livelihood.

There is hardly a single blog where positive, coach-supporting or team-supporting comments dominate discussion day in and day out. You are more likely to see the fan base simply blow with the wind: if things are going well, people will sit back in their chairs and sip their beer. The minute someone trips on their shoelace, the blog lights up.

  26. You know Armageddon is surely near when the “posters are fed up.” What a deeply troublesome sign.

Did you know that presidents make decisions to go to war based on how fed up the posters are?

  27. The link was used on Basketblog nearly a year ago…I’ve also placed it in posts on Scoop. Husky Tom has seen it before..Funny he can’t remember.

Nice work, Marquette. It’s cute to watch 4guards thank you for something he’s already seen. You’re really an adorable pair. The site is still on my bookmarks.

It’s my LINK and you CAN’T HAVE IT!

  28. I will expect no sunrise tomorrow caused only by the Marquette posters feelings about Coach Crean.

  29. Korman and 4guards…Our only hope against the savagery they stare beyond the echos from an island now dark, the army of clapping hunters that lurk behind every word with pointed spears, a last fight for truth and wisdom.

  30. I remember when you posted it but I posted it before. When you posted it I knew you didn’t see my link. I can dig up that first time the link was posted if you want me to. Remember we were making jokes of Crean inviting Richard Simmons on the sidelines to do the step with him, and Crean walking on stilts, faster and faster, first around the court, then around the assembly hall until at a certain speed he goes into orbit and we get rid of him.

It’s no big deal but if you want me I can show you where I posted it first. But if it makes you angry I’d rather just admit it’s your link and live with that.

Now whether information posted there is useful or not or accurate or not or relevant or not is the more interesting aspect, I think…

  31. It’s cool..Nothing makes me angry except words of my own regrets aimed viciously at the undeserving. I will take your word though by chance it may be true. Now kiss me.
