Hoosier prospect Ron Patterson at adidas May Classic

TEAM SCORE: 16U Indiana Elite One 70, Team Illinois 27

RON PATTERSON: The 6-foot-4 rising junior guard from Broad Ripple had 10 points.

PATTERSON SAID: “(On visit to Cook Hall) It was a really good. A nice facility. One of the best I’ve seen. It was just spectacular.”

MY THOUGHTS: Patterson had a rough first-half offensively and then played sparingly in the second half as Indiana Elite One completed a rout. He did have more than a few steals and rebounded the ball nicely.

Last summer, I thought Patterson was a leaper and relied a lot on his athleticism. But his jump shot has really improved, and he’s much more comfortable taking that 3-pointer when the situation presents itself.

Patterson is definitely interested in Indiana, and he is looking for a situation where he can come and play early. That benefits IU, especially in a time where so many prospects may want to wait and see how much the team improves next season.

  1. Patterson would be a huge pickup. He will only keep improving as he has one of the best high school coaches around.
