IU women add JUCO point guard

The Indiana women’s basketball added a fourth member to the 2010 recruiting class Friday, the Hoosiers’ third recruit of the spring.

Point guard Alisha Goodwin, a Belleville, Ill., native who played at Jefferson College last season, will join Andrea Newbauer (Fort Wayne), Simone Deloach (Round Rock, Texas) and Milika Taufu (Lahaina, Hawaii) in Bloomington this fall.

The 5-foot-8 Goodwin averaged 12.9 points, 3 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game for Jefferson, which lost in the NJCAA Division I national championship game. She began her college career at St. Louis University, starting 25 of the 30 games she played for the Billikens with averages of 6.8 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

“I’m so proud of my staff for really pounding the pavement and putting together a great recruiting class,” IU coach Felisha Legette-Jack said in a news release. “Alisha brings us a backup in the point guard position, as well as at the two guard spot. She is a gifted athlete with a high IQ for the game and I really think her track background will help is push the ball up the floor this upcoming season. Alisha is just an unbelievable person with a great personality and we are really excited about her becoming a Hoosier.”

  1. I will be the first to say it here on the Scoop:

Let the Calipari/Eric Bledsoe Saga Begin!!!

  2. 4dodobirds will be sad if Calipari is busted yet again, in light of the open admiration he holds for the UK program.
