IU women lose player to injury

Before the 2010-11 school year could even start, the IU women’s basketball has lost a player to injury. Sophomore Jasmine Davis, a 6-foot-2 forward who appeared in three games for IU last year, will not return to the team this fall the school announced in a news release. Here’s the entire release:

Indiana sophomore Jasmine Davis has been granted a medical noncounter petition from the NCAA and will not be returning to the women’s basketball program for the 2010-11 season.

Davis, who is leaving the team due to a continued injury, will receive financial assistance for the upcoming school year. She appeared in three games for the IU women’s basketball team and averaged 2.0 minutes per contest as a freshman.

Basically, it appears that she has been unable to recover from the surgery she had on her hip last summer, and her playing career is all but over.
