Adkins, Council out; Four questionable

As expected, Indiana is now down two defensive backs from its preseason roster for this week’s game against Ohio State.

Safety Chris Adkins is still listed as out with an ankle injury, though Indiana coach Bill Lynch said earlier this week that he is making progress and is no longer on crutches. Senior cornerback Richard Council injured his knee in Saturday’s game against Michigan and is also listed as out. Lynch said Tuesday Council could be out for an extended period of time, though he doesn’t think he will miss the season.

Lynch said earlier Tuesday that reserve cornerbacks Adrian Burks, Greg Heban and Andre Kates would be in competition for Council’s starting spot this week. Burks took most of the reps with the first team on Tuesday.

Also listed on Tuesday’s injury report were four other players with questionable status: defensive end Kevin Bush (shin), kicker Nick Freeland (hip), tight end Brad Martin (concussion), and linebacker Brandon McGhee (neck).
