Bruin, Haverly earn Big Ten Player of the Week honors

Individual honors have accrued for Indiana junior soccer striker Will Bruin and sophomore volleyball outside-hitter Jordan Haverly in the wake of their Hoosier squads beating nationally-ranked foes over the weekend.

Bruin was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season and second time in the past three weeks after tallying three goals over two matches last week, including a pair of scores in a two-minute span during IU’s 3-2 road win Saturday night over No. 11 Creighton. Bruin also had IU’s goal in Wednesday’s 2-1 loss to Notre Dame.

Haverly was named a Big Ten Co-Player of the Week on Monday after helping leading the Hoosiers to a pair of four-set victories over Ohio State and No. 4 Penn State. She shares the award with Michigan’s Lexi Zimmerman.

Haverly averaged 4.4 kills and 2.0 digs per set over the weekend, finishing with a double-double versus Ohio State and 21 kills against the three-time defending national champion Nittany Lions.

  1. Always try to get the parents involved in the players training especially if you are training them from an early age. This can help with motivating your players as they may have a more positive influence on them.
