Myles: ‘(Lewis) is one of the best big men available’

Greg Lewis, a 6-foot-9 power forward from St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, will be at Hoosier Hysteria on Friday.

It’s another step in the recruiting process for the No. 130 player in the class of 2011, according to Rivals.com.

Lewis is down to five schools — Rutgers, Maryland, Indiana, UNC-Wilmington and South Florida. Indiana coach Tom Crean and assistant coach Steve McClain will be in Baltimore Wednesday to visit St. Frances.

He was considered a lean to Maryland, St. Frances athletics director and recruiting coordinator Nicholas Myles said, and that caused some schools to back off.

After playing at the LeBron James Skills Academy and the NBPA Camp, Lewis saw interest in him rise to a point where it almost became too much, Myles said.

That’s why the list was trimmed. Lewis visited Rutgers last weekend, has been to Maryland, and will visit the other two schools on his list.

Lewis is a face-up power forward who could eventually develop into a small forward.

“He’s more skilled than most big kids,” Myles said. “He’s going to be our go-to guy. We’ll run our offense through him.”

McClain has been in charge of Lewis’ recruitment and has developed a relationship with the coaching staff and family.

“Coach McClain has been doing a great job with this recruitment,” Myles said.

UPDATE: A source said Crean is not going to Baltimore.

  1. When is 4guards going to finally wake up and realize he doesn’t know what he’s talking about?

Like the time he insisted that Dane Fife would make a better assistant than McClain – but then was unable to even show Fife interviewed, let alone wanted, the job.

  2. Well I actually agree with the wanna be except for the part on Zeller going to UNC. Zeller is a hoosier. Dakich had some interesting things to say today.
As for Lewis, Why waste yet another scholarship? This is another 6’8 out of state, 3 star forward.
We only have 2 scholarships left for 2012 if only Zeller signs. Perea, Yogi, Harris… One of them would have to be an oversign and sorry everybody else.

  3. Everyone that read 4tards posting is now stupider for have done so. His lack of knowledge is like a vacuum that sucks in anything to fill the void but its emptiness is so vast that it will have no impact.

  4. Let me say I am so, so happy that Remora has finally fallen out of favor with the Scoop supervisors and that his silly keyboard art is disappearing.

Korman let the guy, an ex-IDS pal, run wild. The new regime has rightfully taken a tougher stance.

  5. Good Morning Hoosier Bloggers! Let’s stretch out those vocal cords…How about we start out with a little Roo Fighters?..Is someone getting the BEST!, the BEST!, the BEST!, the BEST COCK-A-DOODLE-YOU?

  6. I guess if you like a coach who cries tears on national TV Roy Williams is your guy. Is it any wonder 4skin would be a fan of Roy’s?

  7. I am not a fan of Roy and that first comment was not mine. I think Crean lands his first ever 5 star recruit in Zeller.
