St. Bonaventure at IU women

Indiana did not score over the final 5:36 of the game, but still held on to win its second game of the season. HOOSIERS 50, BONNIES 44

1:59: Bonnies cut the deficit to single digits. IU struggling offensively. HOOSIERS 50, BONNIES 42

3:43: This one has gotten uglier the closer we get to the finish. But if you’re Indiana, I guess that’s not so bad with a double-digit lead. Still, Hoosiers have to take care of the ball and make some free throws to finish this one off. HOOSIERS 50, BONNIES 38

7:36: Indiana regaining control of this one in large measure thanks to Jori Davis (13 points) and Hope Elam (13 points). Hoosiers are also getting to the free-throw line after not shooting from the stripe at all in the first half. HOOSIERS 48, BONNIES 35

11:47: St. Bonaventure just won’t go away. Bonnies got within four before a flurry of 3-pointers and 3-point plays. Bonnies have 13 points in 8 minutes this half after just 18 in 20 first-half minutes. HOOSIERS 38, BONNIES 31

15:58: Jori Davis’ 3 to start the half gave IU its biggest lead at 12. St. Bonaventure cut it to 8, but Aulani Sinclair just scored on a runner to make the advantage 10. HOOSIERS 32, BONNIES 22

Aulani Sinclair hit a 3, and freshman Kristiana Stauere punctuated a big finish to the half with a block at the buzzer. Indiana finished the half on a 19-3 run. Sinclair has 8 points to lead the way, and Hope Elam has 5. Three players have 4 points apiece. HOOSIERS 27, BONNIES 18

3:00: An 8-0 run gave IU a 16-15 lead and the run was 11-1 before St. Bonaventure just got its first field goal in nearly seven minutes. HOOSIERS 19, BONNIES 18

7:52: More good shooting put the Bonnies up by seven, but Jori Davis put an end to that with four quick points and her miss set up another score. BONNIES 15, HOOSIERS 14

11:22: A couple of St. Bonaventure 3s the difference early, including one banked in from the top of the key. Alisha Goodwin has four points off the bench to lead IU. BONNIES 10, HOOSIERS 8

15:54: At the first break, it’s an offensive struggle. Indiana’s first basket came on an Alisha Goodwin jumper nearly three minutes into the game. HOOSIERS 2, BONNIES 2

At Assembly Hall for tonight’s home opener for the Indiana women’s basketball team. Hoosiers are 1-0 after an 81-66 victory at Ball State Friday night. IU will still be without Sasha Chaplin, who remains in a walking boot after being injured in the exhibition opener two weeks ago. That means a bigger role off the bench for 6-foot-3 freshman Simone Deloach, and continued reliance on production from the Hoosier guards, who delivered in a big way in that first victory. Stay tuned for updates here and on Twitter.

  1. Thanks for the women’s coverage… I wish the HT would post more coverage of the women’s team, more comparable to the men’s coverage (which I also enjoy).

  2. Well, we’ll do our best for you, Jill. But obviously the appetite is far greater on the men’s side. The more success the women have, the more coverage you’ll see. Should hear something on the women’s signees for next year soon, so keep checking.
