Indiana Elite dominates, Gary Harris hearing from Kentucky, and other notes from IndyBall

INDIANAPOLIS — The Movement got started in front of a couple thousand Indiana fans and interested onlookers Saturday, as Indiana Elite Team Indiana took the floor with four Indiana commits in the starting lineup.

Yogi Ferrell, Ron Patterson, Jeremy Hollowell and Hanner Perea all showed signs of dominance in a 103-63 win against the Hancock County All-Stars.

Yes, the Hancock County All-Stars. These April AAU tournaments, since the NCAA restricted college coaches from attending, have gotten more regional and, thus, early round competition can be poor for the top teams.

But it allowed the four future Hoosiers to put on a show (a fifth, Peter Jurkin, did not travel to Indiana because of an injury). Ferrell scored 29 points, making eight-of-nine 3-pointers, in an aggressive performance from the point guard.

Hollowell scored 13, and both Patterson and Perea pitched in with 12. Hollowell had one highlight dunk, driving baseline and climbing over an opponent, but Perea had a handful as he showed the incredible athleticism that has made him a top prospect.

The team plays again at 5:45 p.m. or so. I’ll report back after that. In the meantime, here are videos from Ferrell and Hollowell.

Other news:

  • Gary Harris said Kentucky has been calling and e-mailing since the end of the high school season. No offer has been forthcoming (Kentucky offers few players, sometimes not until the commit is coming), and it’s hard to know where Harris fits in Kentucky’s plans. Harris didn’t exactly sound overjoyed by  it, staying monotone for most of the interview (video of which I’ll post later). Harris said he is looking at trimming his list, but there’s no set date on that or any real details. Again, continue to be patient with Harris – would not be surprised to see this go into the fall.
  • Watching the Eric Gordon 16s right now. Devin Davis looks stronger, a bit more aggressive on the offensive end. He’s already a guy who attacks the rim on defense. Collin Hartman has been a little lost with his new teammates, and Zak Irvin has had a couple of highlights.

  1. Anyone know what time/where Indiana Elite plays tomorrow? And how many games will they play?
