Traylor commits to Kansas

Though he took an unofficial visit to Indiana early in the process, it has appeared evident for some time that IMG Academy forward Jamari Traylor was heading to the Big 12. That became official on Wednesday when IMG announced that Traylor would sign with Kansas. A release from the Bradenton, Fla., school follows.

He’s only recently started playing the game, but Jamari Traylor has quickly shot up the list of top basketball recruits. Now, he’ll continue his rapid development with the Kansas Jayhawks after committing to the school today.

A 6-7 forward, the Chicago native was also considering Oklahoma State, Indiana and Texas Tech.

“He is the type of player that plays bigger than his 6-7 frame because he gets off the ground so quickly and plays at the top of the block,” said Andy Borman, Director of the IMG Basketball Academy. “Jamari’s a great kid with great character and will give a tremendous boost to any program.”

Traylor only started playing organized basketball three years ago, but his raw athletic talent has already prepared him for the college game.

“He has a tremendous upside,” Borman said. “He might be the best overall athlete in the entire 2011 class. He attacks and defends the rim as well as anyone in our program. He has great hands and finishes extremely well around the rim.”

  1. Sounds like were not going to get another big man for 2011. Hope that Elston,Capo and Pritchard can step it up and control the boards this year.

  2. Don’t count on it. If it hasn’t happened by now it probably isn’t going to happen. Go get McGary.

  3. Hopefully Capo never sees the court. Elston is our best rebounder, not sure why Crean doesn’t play him more.

  4. Another year with Capo, Elston, and Pritchard playing alot. Yikes that is scary. I sure hope Zeller does not foul much because after that we have nobody.
