24 IU football players named Academic All-Big Ten

SCHOOL RECORD 24 HOOSIERS EARN ACADEMIC ALL-BIG TEN HONORS

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – A school record 24 Indiana football student-athletes earned Academic All-Big Ten honors, the conference office announced Wednesday. The 24 Hoosier honorees are the third-highest total in the league.

Student-athletes must be in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better to be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection.

IU’s honorees are listed below:

Pete Bachman, Leon Beckum, David Blackwell, Charlie Chapman, Connor Creevey, Griffen Dahlstrom, Max Dedmond, Cody Evers, Mitch Ewald, Josh Hager, Greg Heban, Bill Ivan, Dusty Kiel, John Laihinen, Will Matte, Jake Michalek, Paul Phillips, Ryan Phillis, Adam Replogle, Lee Rose, Teddy Schell, Ishmael Thomas, Alexander Webb and Jake Zupancic.

  1. Well I have to say, I’m proud of this. At least the footbal team is having success academically. Good job, everyone.

  2. Would love both academic success and wins, but if we can’t have both, we’ll take the academics…good job, guys!

  3. I’m especially happy for those of these students who would not have had a chance to go to college without a sports scholarship- in the true meaning of that word.
