Report: Hoosiers get 23rd commitment in 2012 class

According to Matt Weaver of Peegs.com and Zach Osterman of Inside Indiana, JUCO linebacker David Cooper has become Indiana coach Kevin Wilson’s 23rd commitment of the 2012 class.

Cooper was initially committed to the Hoosiers in November, but he had reopened his recruitment. Cooper is also the seventh junior college commitment in the 2012 class.

Minnesota, Iowa State, Memphis, Eastern Michigan and Louisiana-Lafayette had also offered the linebacker.

We’ll have more on this story later in the day.

  1. The staff showed tenacity and a positive recruiting attitude for keeping after this fellow. Coaches from big time programs staying after the prize. Good job.

  2. I love the JUCO additions. I feel like this is a good “quick-fix” until Wilson starts getting more consistent quality from freshman recruits. We definitely need the quality on defense for next season if we have any hope of wining 5 or 6 games.

  3. HC & Joe; I agree with both your comments. It’s a good sign that David Cooper re-opened his recruitment and then came back to IU.

As for next year, I’ll be delighted if IU wins four games and is competitive in most of the others. But who knows, if the players go into Spring football in good condition and with the right attitude, IU may be able to surprise us with a couple of extra wins.
