Neddenriep: IU facilities will no longer be used for Adidas May Classic

According to a report by Kyle Neddenriep of the Indianapolis Star, the Adidas May Classic will no longer be able to use Assembly Hall and Cook Hall as courts for the tournament.

The NCAA had passed a rule prohibiting the use of the facilities of institutions for non-scholastic travel tournaments last year, but the AMC was grandfathered in because of an existing deal with Indiana Elite. However, Criss Beyers — who is on the board of directors for Indiana Elite, one of the main tournament organizers and the recently hired coach at Martinsville — told Neddenriep that the AMC will not be allowed to use IU’s facilities this year. The tournament will continue to be held at other local facilities, including the SportsPlex, Bloomington South, Bloomington North and other local schools.
