Clay City’s Roeschlein to join IU women

Once again, per her own Twitter and many others’ congratulations, it has been confirmed that Clay City’s Carmela Roeschlein will join the Indiana women’s basketball team for the 2012-13 season.

Roeschlein, a 5-foot-6 guard, finished her career as Clay City’s all-time leading scorer with over 1,500 points, averaging 16.3 points per game over four years.

As a senior, Roeschlein averaged 19 ppg for the Class 1A regional finalists, hitting 71 3-pointers while shooting better than 40 percent from beyond the arc. That included a career-high 52 points against White River Valley last November.

Roeschlein joins 6-3 Jocelyn Mousty of Eastern Pekin and 5-5 Nicole Bell of Indian Hill (Cincinnati, Ohio) as 2012 recruits, with Kaila Hulls (Bowling Green/Bloomington South) and Claire Jakubicek (Northern Illinois) as transfers, and Westfield’s Jenn Anderson and Westerville, Ohio’s Taylor Agler as 2013 verbal commits.

  1. Coach Miller has another Indiana girl coming. Carmela hit 71 three pointers this past year which was a weakness for IU this past season. Another fundamentally sound Indiana girl coming our way. Coach Miller is obviously a tireless recruiter, he hasn’t stopped since he got here. This is amazing concidering he got here late in the game. Most of the really good recruits had already signed to go elswhere before he was hired at IU. What he has done the last 4 or 5 weeks is incredible! Keep up the great work coach Miller!!

  2. Coach Miller had a totally bare cupboard when he arrived: 9 scholarship players and 0 recruits for 2012. He added 2 great transfers; 2 very good recruits for 2012 (making 13 scholarship players for 2012-13); and now a very good “walk-on” for 2012-13. He also has 2 very good recruits for 2013 when he will lose 4 seniors from his current team. So 2 more quality recruits for 2013 and he will have totally re-stocked the Indiana Women’s team. WOW! Good job Coach Miller!
