Hollowell out again; IU releases statement

Indiana just released a statement saying that freshman forward Jeremy Hollowell will be held out of tonight’s game again because of NCAA compliance issues. The statement follows.

“As he has for the last two games, Indiana University Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Fred Glass has directed the men’s basketball program to withhold Jeremy Hollowell from  tonight’s game pending resolution of NCAA compliance issues. While stating that it is premature to discuss these issues in any detail, Glass stated that they do not involve any improper actions or inactions by the institution or its men’s basketball program. Glass further stated that Jeremy and his family are actually the ones to initially raise these issues, that Jeremy has continued to fully cooperated in this matter, and that in Glass’s opinion Jeremy appears to be a victim–not a perpetrator–in this matter. Glass expressed his appreciation to the NCAA for its assistance and cooperation and his optimism that these issues will soon be resolved. Until then, neither he nor anyone else at IU will have any further comment.”

  1. Come on Jeremy, get this worked out and get back.
    We need you.

Crazy. Like the “next man up” between ncaa, injures Some get back to play and than another is out for some reason.

  2. I’ll be the first to say it: Crean needs disciplined immediately. He is making a mockery of our IUBB program with all these violations. Crean knows what is going on and he needs to be held accountable. I’m sick of his crap and he’s no better than any other NCAA violater. Thankful IUBB is back near the top, but not thankful for the way it’s being done.

  3. Why are you such a Crean hater Debbie?? You should be thankful and appreciative of the job he has done with the program! Like Laffy said: How is he making a mockery of the program?? All the violations this season (Peter, Hanner, and now maybe Jeremy) have had nothing to do with him! Last season’s (if I’m correct) illegal contact of a recruit was done by an assistant coach and Crean himself reported it to the NCAA because it was an honest mistake. Crean has done nothing but rebuild this program the right way!

  4. Chet, let me be #102 in the “Debbie is a dumba**” line-up. What did Hollowell do to Ohio State to get their shorts all in a bunch? Hopefully, this will get cleared up in time for him to play against them and express his warm appreciation for their efforts.

  5. I got to talk to Coach Crean tonight and asked him why Debbie hates him. He turned her down for senior prom and plainly told her that he only dates people that can see their toes. She’s had a personal vendetta towards him since.

  6. It appears Debbie can read, but why would she want to read the press release? That would only interfere with her desire to use the slightest excuse to trash Crean. Debbie is a troll. And most trolls have no use for facts or the truth. They simply take every opportunity to sling their drivel at their intended target. Most trolls are not very bright, but based on her latest effort, Debbie may be in a class by her self.

  7. Mike Davis was a good guy, and the closest to putting a sixth banner up in Assembly Hall.

We need to ignore these distractions and concentrate on Iowa. We’re going on the road after not playing our best ball, in quite a while, in a hostile environment against a team that has nothing to lose. Can you imagine how great it would be for Iowa to knock us off?

Lets see if we can become the hunters and not the hunted.

  8. Debbie is a man…see how easy it is for me to post as a woman on an anonymous forum? I love Tom crean and pitty Debbie doo doo.

  9. Cut Debbie a little slck, because I think she gets the point.
I am not an IU fan, but I do like watching them play. I’ve not missed any of there televised games this year, and I can see where some might question Crean’s coaching. It is almost like watching a pick up game in the park, where usually a smart coach can take a second string team and beat the champions. I like Crean, but the jury is out for the Debbie’s of the world until he shows he can coach something other than run and dunk. The Big Ten is the perfect place to test IU ability to run with the big dogs. I’m not sure just yet, but for now I would put my money on Crean and the excellent players at IU.

  10. If he appears to be a victim and not a perp, why is he not being allowed to play? They fired the guy in the SM scandal. If there was no chance he was a perp of something he would be allowed to play. Someone accuses him of something, or some mysterious thing happens and the team has to be victimized by taking a player out of normal rotation and messing with everyone’s rhythm? Something isn’t being told.

  11. He isn’t being accused of something… The Hollowell family reported an incident to be safe and they are waiting on a ruling.

To say that something isn’t being said here is a strange comment. IU is coming right out and saying that they are holding back details…
