IU third baseman Dustin DeMuth taken in eighth round by Twins

Indiana had two players taken on the second day of the Major League Baseball draft, both of whom went to the Minnesota Twins. Third baseman Dustin DeMuth, went in the eighth round with the No. 230 pick overall, joining teammate and roommate Aaron Slegers, who went in the fifth round.

DeMuth bounced back from a .263 season as a sophomore to hit .396 so far this year with five home runs, 40 RBI and a school-record-tying 22 doubles. The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder from La Porte is slugging .569 with an on-base percentage of .451.

  1. Sweet! My favorite MLB team takes two Hoosiers. I hope they both make it to The Show so I can follow them. If DeMuth is any good (and he is at the college level), Minnesota hardly has a solid 3B, so he could make it within a few yaers.
