IU women vs. USC Upstate

FINAL: Indiana 87, USC Upstate 38. IU finishes with 5 players in double digits, led by Taylor Agler’s 16. 12 players scored for Indiana.

Under-4: Indiana 80, Upstate 36. This game is so clearly over that Jen Anderson is shooting 3s. She’s missed them both.

Under-8: Indiana 74, Upstate 33. Hoosiers shooting 48 percent. Kaila Hulls making an impact from the perimeter. She has 12 points on four 3-pointers.

Under-12: Indiana 65, Upstate 25. Indiana has four players in double figures — Taylor Agler (16), Larryn Brooks (14), Sasha Chaplin (10) and Alexis Gassion (10).

Under-16: Indiana 61, Upstate 23. Teams have played to a 10-10 through four minutes. Agler just hit a 3 off a pass from Brooks.

HALFTIME: The Hoosiers are simply toying with Upstate now. Kaila Hulls sinks a buzzer-beating 3 at the half. Indiana leads, 51-13. That’s two straight 50-point halves for Indiana. Larryn Brooks, who’s really good, has a team-high 14 for Indiana.

Under-4: Back-to-back 3s from Larryn Brooks and Kaila Hulls. IU leads, 43-13. Just total domination. Could be 2 straight games w/ 50 pts in 1st half

Under-8: Indiana 31, Upstate 8. IU shooting 45%, Upstate at 22%. Hoosiers winning on the boards, 18-9.

Under-12: Indiana 23, Upstate 4. Spartans didn’t get their first basket until the 11:51 mark. Agler leads Indiana with 7, Brooks has 6. Upstate has 6 turnovers.

Under-16: Indiana 6, Upstate 0. Yuck. IU’s play has been uninspired, Upstate’s has been, frankly, a disaster. Ugly post-holiday ball early.

PREGAME: Indiana looks to build on its 6-0 season-opening winning streak this afternoon at Assembly Hall, hosting USC Upstate at 2 p.m. Looks like Nicole Bell is inactive for this one. Not sure why, but will find out postgame. Other than her, and Claire Jakubicek, of course, everyone else seems to be accounted for. Updates here and on Twitter at @BowieMike.

  1. Women’s hoops is undefeated and seems like something magical is brewing a la IU baseball. Which team on our schedule do we need to beat before we confirm it’s legit?

    1. The improvement is legit, but don’t go purchasing tickets to the NCAA Tournament. Good test Wednesday against Virginia Tech, first BCS team on the schedule this year, then Dec. 29 game at Xavier will be interesting before Big Ten play starts.

  2. Mike, apparently Nicole Bell suffered a concussion in the last game. I heard a fan talking about it during yesterday’s game. Wednesday’s game will be huge, Virginia Tech has only lost one game and has very good size. I really hope we get a good crowd to support these girls. This team is so much fun to watch because of their hard play and unselfishness. They can flat shoot the ball and are certainly well coached! They are still incredibly young and without a doubt there will be bumps in the road but, when those bumps come, don’t give up on them. With this incredible coaching staff in place, this team will learn from those bumps. Get out Wednesday night and support this team, GO Hoosiers!!
