Schwarber goes 3-for-4, homers twice, is batting .600

Kyle Schwarber went 3-for-4 with two home runs for the Boise Hawks, the Chicago Cubs’ short-season Class A affiliate, in a 12-3 win Tuesday over the Tri-City Dust Devils, the Colorado Rockies short-season Class A affiliate. That gives Schwarber four home runs in five games in professional baseball.

So far in five games, he’s batting .600 (12-for-20) with four home runs and 10 RBI. He’s slugging a ridiculous 1.350 with an on-base percentage of .625. No one else in the Northwest League has more than two home runs so far.

  1. Wow, sounds like he was playing before the ink on his new contract was dry! If he keeps this up through the end of the week, the Cubs should call him up. Given their pathetic performance again this year, what do they have to lose?
