Travis goes in second round, No. 67 overall to Boston Red Sox

Indiana first baseman Sam Travis was taken in the second round of the Major League Baseball Draft at pick No. 67 overall by the Boston Red Sox.

Travis was named Big Ten Player of the Year and a second-team All-American in his junior season. He finished fourth in the Big Ten in batting average (.347), second in home runs (12) and first in RBI (58). He also led the Big Ten in hits (85), ranked second in runs (55) and slugging percentage (.576) and fourth in on-base percentage (.415). He committed just two errors this season at first base.
