Allen reopens commitment, Bailey out of the coaching mix

One week after Curt Miller’s abrupt resignation as Indiana women’s basketball coach, the Hoosiers are already feeling the hit in recruiting.

2015 prospect Jenna Allen has reopened her recruitment, according to this report from Justin Sokeland at TheHHCSports.com. Allen, a 6-foot-3 forward from Bedford, committed to IU last August.

Allen’s father, Jeff, told TheHHCSports.com that Jenna would like to stay in the midwest and that Indiana would remain in the running.

“We’re not saying no to IU, but it’s a situation, going into her senior year, where we have to make sure it’s the right fit and have options in case it’s not,” said Jeff Allen, Jenna’s father and the new head coach at BNL. “We felt like we had done our homework, and Jenna felt IU was the best fit with Coach Miller. Obviously the variable has changed.”

Allen’s coach at Bedford North Lawrence last season was Damon Bailey, now an assistant at Butler. Per a source, Bailey talked to Indiana about the coaching position, but is not interested. IU did not offer him the position.
