Handful of Hoosiers on the mend

Indiana coach Kevin Wilson reported no serious injuries coming out of its season-opening win over Indiana State on Saturday.

Better yet, some of the players nursing minor injuries at the close of preseason camp are nearing a return to competitive action.

Sophomore center Wes Rogers, junior safety Dawson Fletcher each practiced with the team on Wednesday. Tight end Anthony Corsaro is also close to getting back into drills.

“(Tight end Danny) Friend is probably a week or two away,” Wilson said. “He’s probably the slowest of all. They’re all coming back. Came out of the last game with no one to add to it. As we practice, we were clean today. Hopefully we’ll be clean as we move forward with the games to come.”

Wilson left the North End Zone facility after meeting with the media on Wednesday to go recruiting. The IU coach said Thursday will include a full practice, with a lighter workload set for Friday and Saturday.

“Good go today,” Wilson said. “Good go tomorrow — more than a normal Thursday, by far. We won’t do much on Friday. Won’t play a game Saturday, but we’ll do enough to kind of keep them in the routine of waking up and here it is. Then we’ll cut it loose and let them watch some games on Saturday afternoon.”
