Coleman makes USA Today’s All-American 1st Team

He’s not going to New York as a Heisman Trophy finalist, but Indiana’s Tevin Coleman received additional national recognition on Thursday.

USA Today selected the junior running back to its All-American First Team, where he’s joined by Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon and three other Big Ten players. Coleman rushed for 2,036 yards and 169.7 yards per contest — both of which were second nationally to Gordon. Iowa offensive lineman Brandon Scherff, Michigan State offensive lineman Jack Allen and Ohio State defensive lineman Joey Bosa were also selected to the first team.

Coleman is currently in Orlando, Fla. at the Walt Disney World Resort as a finalist for the Doak Walker Award. The winner will be announced tonight on the Home Depot College Football Awards show on ESPN beginning at 7 p.m.
