Former Hoosier Taylor Agler to Ohio U.

Former Indiana women’s basketball player Taylor Agler is headed back home, or close to it.

Agler, who left the IU program following her sophomore season in March and initially announced plans to join former Hoosier teammate Larryn Brooks at Texas Tech, will now continue her college basketball career at Ohio University, according to her father, Brian Agler, coach of the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks.

The latest change in plans is because the Bobcats are “a better fit, closer to home” for the Westerville, Ohio, native, Brian said. The Ohio U. roster has 11 native Buckeyes on the current roster, many of which are Taylor’s former AAU teammates. She will have to sit out a year and will have two years of eligibility remaining, starting with the 2016-17 season.

  1. This doesn’t surprise me in the least. I am sure Taylor will be much more comfortable closer to home. I was very surprised when she announced last year that she was transferring to Texas Tech? I watched Tech play around 6 or 7 games last year and they are super athletic running at every oppritunity and pressing quite a bit. I really didn’t think that Taylor was a good fit for their style of play. I am sure that she concidered going there because coach Poole reached out to her and expressed interest in her. A familier face always helps. I just don’t think there was any way she would thrive in that system. I think that Taylor will be productive in her new school at Ohio University. I hope that Taylor will be very sucessful at her new school.
