Gutjahr called up to U20 national team

Bloomington North grad and Indiana University freshman soccer player Jeremiah Gutjahr will take a leave from the Hoosiers to join the United States U20 national team in Germany this week and next. Here’s the full release from IU:

Indiana University men’s soccer freshman Jeremiah Gutjahr has been called up to the U.S. Under-20 National Team to participate in the Mercedes-Benz Elite Cup in Stuttgart, Germany.

“It’s a great honor for Jeremiah to be called into the National Team for this international tournament over in Germany,” IU head coach Todd Yeagley said. “These opportunities are special.”

Gutjahr departed for Germany on Tuesday and will return to the Hoosiers in time for the team’s match against Maryland on Oct. 16.

The U.S. Under-20 National Team will play Scotland on Oct. 9 in Reutlingen, Germany before facing Mexico in Stuttgart on Oct. 12 in the Mercedes-Benz Elite Cup.

Previously, Gutjahr was named to the U.S. Under-18 National Team training camp in October of 2014. This season for Indiana, Gutjahr has played in eight matches for the Hoosiers.
