IUWBB: Cahill honored by Preseason WNIT

Sophomore forward Amanda Cahill was named Sunday to the Preseason WNIT All-Tournament team.

Cahill averaged 15 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game in three games, including wins over Tennessee State and No. 24 Chattanooga and a loss to No. 19 DePaul. She hit 60.7 percent of her shots from the field, as well as 6-of-9 from beyond the arc.

Cahill was joined by Nina Davis (Most Valuable Player) and Niya Johnson of Baylor, Chanise Jenkins and Megan Podkawa of DePaul and Courtney Williams of South Florida.

  1. What a terrific honor for IU’s most consistent player. Amanda is a double-double threat every time she walks onto the court. So far it is very apparent that she has improved her game from last year in many phases, the one that really jumps out at you is her improved 3 point shooting. As good as Buss is, Amanda is the glue that holds this team together. The cool thing is that as Kym Royster starts to improve, Amanda’s game will continue to get better. Royster’s improved play will help take some pressure off of Cahill. Go Hoosiers!!

  2. Awesome honor for Amanda to receive and she obviously deserves it. As for Royster she will get there but we have to remember she is a freshman and it will take a while , hopefully by mid season she will be getting into the form we expect from her and away from the “deer in the headlights mode”.
