IUWBB: Michigan at Indiana

FINAL (OT): Indiana 77, Michigan 69.

END OF REGULATION: Indiana 61, Michigan 61.

We are going to overtime here at Assembly Hall. IU went on an 10-0 run to take the lead late on a Tyra Buss layup. Katelynn Flaherty hit a 3 to knot it up.

4:32 (4Q): Michigan leads, 58-51.

6:50 (4Q): A transition layup by Lyndsay Lekeim was a big boost before the timeout, because Michigan had taken a 54-45 lead on a stepback 3 by Siera Thompson. Four player control fouls called on IU today. Teri Moren not happy with, probably, any of those calls. Empty possessions for the Hoosiers. Fifteen turnovers.

END OF THIRD: Michigan 48, Indiana 44.

Michigan was in the bonus with 4:47 left in the quarter. But the Hoosiers kept it close. A layup by Tyra Buss with a minute remaining briefly gave IU the lead. Katelynn Flaherty answered with a 3 to make it 45-44, Michigan. Wolverines hit one of two free throws, then a Flaherty layup, to take four-point lead into the final period.

4:47 (3Q): Sloppy play continues by both teams to start this second half. Four turnovers apiece, each team up to 12 for the game. Amanda Cahill with a big offensive rebounding, spin and a putback to knot it up at 35-all. Still, Hoosiers not able to consistently break Michigan’s press.

HALFTIME: Michigan 32, Indiana 30.

Alexis Gassion was clutch at the end of the first half, converting on a drive to the basket and then hitting a jumper to knot it at 30-all. Michigan scored to take a slim lead into halftime. Michigan’s press caused problems for the Hoosiers, at times. Each team at eight turnovers at half.

Amanda Cahill leads IU with 10 points and five rebounds at half. Alexis Gassion with six. Karlee McBride with 5.

For Michigan, Siera Thompson has eight points. Madison Ristovski has seven.

6:38 (2Q): A 10-0 run for Michigan to start second quarter. Hoosiers not taking good shots, or missing from close range. Michigan’s Siera Thompson with a crucial 3 during that stretch. IU also turned the ball over versus Michigan’s press, now up to five turnovers.

END OF FIRST: Indiana 18, Michigan 12.

4:59 (1Q): IU has early control of this game. The Wolverines already have five turnovers. A 3 by Karlee McBride, following a drive and a score by Tyra Buss, expand IU’s lead to 9-3.

Michigan shoots a 3, and Tyshee Towner was shoved in the back on a long rebound. Foul. A lot of energy on IU bench going into a timeout.

Starters for the same for IU: Gs Tyra Buss, Jess Walter, Alexis Gassion, and Fs Jenn Anderson and Amanda Cahill.
