IUWBB: Iowa at Indiana

FINAL: Indiana 79, Iowa 74.

:28.8 (4Q): Tyra Buss with a drive to the basket, limping slightly afterward, but she looks fine. Hoosiers lead 76-74.

4:34 (4Q): It’s been quite the turnaround for the Hoosiers. They had a lead a moment earlier, 66-65, after a post basket by Jenn Anderson. Whitney Jennings scored on the other end. A lot more energy in the building after an Amanda Cahill 3 cut it to 62-60. Hoosiers still riding that, it seems. Hoosiers have outscored the Hawkeyes, 19-9, in the fourth thus far.

END OF THIRD: Iowa 58, Indiana 47

Hoosiers got it within 10 after two free throws from Jenn Anderson. That made IU 9-of-15 from the free throw line. Whitney Jennings made 1-of-2 after a foul call on Tyshee Towner near the end of the quarter. Tyra Buss brought it up the floor quickly to try and launch a 3, but was blocked by Jennings.

4:58 (3Q): Hoosiers going inside to Cahill a lot, and you can’t blame them. She is 7-of-11 from the field with 16 points. The rest of the Hoosiers are not faring so well. But Iowa leads, 48-35.

HALF: Iowa 38, Indiana 23.

After turning the ball over one time in the first quarter, the Hoosiers turn it over eight times in the second. They also shot 31 percent from the field and 0-of-3 from beyond the arc. Just a miserable, miserable quarter for the Hoosiers.

Amanda Cahill with 10 points. Alexis Gassion with 5. Tyra Buss is 1-fo-5, with 2 points. Jenn Anderson with four, and is 2-of-6 from the field. We’ll see how the Hoosiers respond come out of the locker room.

6:09 (2Q): Shooting woes continue in the second quarter, now from inside. From everywhere. The Hoosiers are 1-of-5 from the field in the quarter thus far, and have been outscored 9-2. Iowa leads, 25-17.

END OF FIRST: Iowa 16, Indiana 15.

Whitney Jennings now posing problems with her outside shot. Her second of the quarter puts Iowa up by one after one quarter. Some sloppiness for the Hawkeyes. They had five turnovers in the period. But Jennings with 10 points.

Hoosiers shoot 7-of-17 in the quarter, but almost all of those makes were from a couple of feet away. Need to shot come along in coming minutes.

4:24 (1Q): IU leads 9-8 at media timeout, but not having much success with outside shooting thus far. Much better underneath. Amanda Cahill with two of those buckets. Jenn Anderson with one. On the defensive end, it is apparent that Whitney Jennings (from Logansport) will pose some issues with her quickness. She has four points.
