IUWBB: Walter chooses Nebraska Omaha

Sophomore guard Jess Walter announced Wednesday via Twitter that she is transferring to Nebraska Omaha.

Walter, who announced she was leaving Indiana the day after the Hoosiers were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament, originally committed to Northern Kentucky in April. But when head coach Dawn Plitzuweit left the Norse to take the head coaching job at South Dakota, Walter reopened her recruitment.

Walter averaged 2.8 points in 16.4 minutes per game in 2015-16 for the Hoosiers.

Omaha finished 15-15 last season and 7-9 in the Summit League. The Mavericks did not receive a berth into any postseason tournaments.

  1. Sorry for her. That’s an awful athletic department.

UNO hired ESPN talking head, Trev Albert, as their AD.

Despite all evidence they decided they were a basketball school. After winning their umpteenth national title in DII wrestling the program was dropped. So was the football team. Despite being a ‘non revenue’ sport the wrestling team was $150,000 in the black over the past season. About their average over the past decade. The basketball team was a money pit.

    It’s only gotten worse.

    Sorry kid.

  2. Chet, I believe Walter knew this but, just wants solid minutes on the floor and she will get them no doubt.

  3. Let’s get Corsaro to Bloomington and in Candy Stripes! Her addition to the roster would make IU a top 20 program! And cement Coach Moren as one of the top coaches in her profession in only 2 years!

  4. Banks needs to use whatever pull she has and get an official visit at IU. I believe once Corsaro visits the campus meets the team and staff we would have her. Creme has already placed IU at # 23. With all we have coming back plus Tia, Ria, Bria. and Darby even without Corsaro is a step up but IU needs her more than any of those other schools on her list. Yes the potential is there for top 20.
