Indiana signee Skylar Szynski, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound right-handed pitcher from Penn High School, was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the fourth round with the No. 112 overall pick in Friday’s Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

Baseball America considers Szynski the No. 1 high school player in the state of Indiana and the No. 94 overall prospect in this year’s draft. Should he turn down the Athletics, Szynski would likely factor into an Indiana weekend rotation that lost all three starters to graduation. The No. 112 pick has an assigned bonus slot of $531,500.

Szynski works in the low-to-mid 90s with his fastball and also has an above average curveball. In 64 innings this season, Szynski has struck out 80, walked 22 and allowed 31 hits. He owns a 10-1 record and an ERA of 1.86.

Teams have until July 15 to sign drafted players.
