Davis hopes to be in Bloomington by early August #iubb

De’Ron Davis’ targeted arrival in Bloomington has been pushed to August.

Davis, a four-star forward from Colorado, was expected to be on campus today for the beginning of the third four-week academic session of the summer, but that was not to be. Indiana coach Tom Crean told The Herald-Times last week that Davis has academic work to complete before he can move to Bloomington.

“He’s doing it and he’s doing well with it,” Crean said.

An IU recruiting target since his eighth-grade year, Davis signed with the Hoosiers last November. The 6-foot-10 prospect was named Colorado’s Mr. Basketball in April after a sterling high school run that saw him set a state record with 441 blocked shots for his career. He also finished with 1,527 career points at Overland High School in Aurora, Colo.

“The big fella is still here and may not arrive in Bloomington until early August,” Overland coach Danny Fisher told The Herald-Times in a text message. “He is hashing through some things he has to finish here in town and has been in constant contact with coach Crean and staff. I don’t have an exact date, but early August is what everyone is expecting.”

So far, Indiana has welcomed three members of its five-man signing class to campus. Freshmen guards Devonte Green, Curtis Jones and Grant Gelon have been enrolled at IU since mid-June. Junior College transfer Freddie McSwain, a wing from Neosho Community College in Kansas, is also tending to academic work this summer and is not expected in Bloomington until August.
