IU will visit New York in back to back years

New York City will become a home away from home for Indiana basketball during the next couple years.

IU will participate in the 2017 2K Sports Classic and the 2018 Jimmy V Classic, a program spokesman confirmed. Both events will be held at Madison Square Garden.

The Big Ten Tournament will also be held at the same arena at the conclusion of the 2017-18 season.

According to CBS Sports, Providence, Virginia Tech and Washington will join IU in next year’s 2k Classic field. The Indianapolis Star reports IU will face North Carolina in the Jimmy V field.

IU last played in the Jimmy V Classic in December 2014, losing to Louisville, 94-74. The Hoosiers also participated in the 2K Sports Classic during the 2013 non-conference season, beating Washington and falling against Connecticut.

The league tournament is moving around the Big Ten geographical footprint over the coming years. Long stationed between Chicago and Indianapolis, the tournament will be held in Washington D.C. this year before shifting to New York the following season.
