Blackmon named to Jerry West Award watch list

Indiana’s James Blackmon Jr. is one of 20 players on the watch list for the Jerry West Award, which is delivered annually to college basketball’s top shooting guard.

Blackmon averaged 15.8 points and 4.2 rebounds during an injury-shortened sophomore season last year. He scored in double figures in 11 of the 13 non-conference games he played in before an ACL injury ended his season in late December.

This year, Blackmon will be featured heavily as the primary scoring option in the Hoosiers’ backcourt.

The Jerry West Award is now in its third season of circulation. This watch list will be narrowed to 10 players by mid-February before five finalists are named in March.
