Blackmon will miss Sunday’s game with knee injury

James Blackmon Jr.’s knee has become the focus once again.

Blackmon, Indiana’s leading scorer will miss Sunday’s game against Mississippi Valley State with a left knee injury sustained on Tuesday at Fort Wayne. The severity of the injury, along with a timetable for his return were not immediately clear.

The junior guard dressed and participated in all of IU’s pregame warmups on Sunday at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. He suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during his sophomore year of high school, and underwent a procedure to fix the meniscus in that same knee in July 2015.

Blackmon tore the ACL in his right knee last December.

“He’s not practiced,” IU coach Tom Crean said on the pregame radio show. “He’s going to be out today.”

Indiana started Thomas Bryant, OG Anunoby, Zach McRoberts, Robert Johnson and Josh Newkirk.
