IU soccer season ends in 2-1 OT loss

Virginia Tech’s Forrest White scored the game-winner in the 98th minute, lifting the visiting Hokies to a 2-1 overtime victory against seventh-seeded and seventh-ranked Indiana Sunday at Armstrong Stadium in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Hokies (13-4-4) finished when the Hoosiers (12-2-7) could not, as Indiana held a 24-8 edge in shots, 11-4 in shots on goal and 9-0 in corner kicks but still saw the season come to an end.

VT scored first in the 19th minute against the run of play, and Indiana did not equalize until the 77th minute, when Grant Lillard headed home a corner kick. But the Hoosiers could not capitalize on the momentum and eventually paid for their offensive inefficiency.
