Indiana ended up splitting its two-game road swing, losing to Western Kentucky, 85-74 on Saturday.
The Hoosiers (3-1) were led by 23 points and three assists from junior point guard Tyra Buss. But two days after shooting better than 50 percent from the field in a win at Chattanooga, IU hit 41.2 percent of its shots against the Hilltopers (2-1) and only 5-of-20 from 3-point range.
They also turned the ball over 12 times and committed 24 personal fouls. On the other hand, WKU shot 48 percent from the field and made 26-of-28 free throws . Tashia Brown led the Hilltoppers with 28 points.
IU led 35-34 less than a minute into the third quarter, but that was the Hoosiers last lead of the game. The Hoosiers return home Wednesday to play UMass-Lowell.
