The Big Ten honored a pair of Hoosiers on Tuesday when the conference’s weekly men’s soccer honors were announced.
Indiana senior midfielder Tanner Thompson was named co-Player of the Week after scoring four goals in wins over St. Louis and Michigan State. Thompson recorded his first career hat trick against the Billikens, then delivered the game-winner with less than five minutes remaining against the Spartans.
The Loomis, Calif., native was also named the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Lomeli, who made just his second and third career starts last week, was named Big Ten Defender of the Week. The senior from Crown Point made one save in posting a shutout against St. Louis, then allowed just one goal and made a pair of saves against Michigan State.
Indiana, which moved up to No. 8 in the NSCAA poll on Tuesday, will host Northwestern in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament this Sunday at Armstrong Stadium in a 1 p.m. match.
