Indiana University women’s basketball junior forward Amanda Cahill was named Big Ten Player of the Week on Monday.
Cahill averaged 17.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game last week in the Hoosiers’ two wins at the Florida Sunshine Classic and scored her 1,000th career point in IU’s win over Stony Brook.
It is the first player of the week honor in the career of the Clyde, Ohio, native, and Cahill becomes the first Hoosier to earn the conference distinction since Tyra Buss on Jan. 18, 2016. The back to back double-doubles last week give Cahill 24 for her career, which is tied for sixth in Indiana history.
The Hoosiers (10-3) open Big Ten play Wednesday at Penn State.
