Cahill Big Ten Player of the Week #iuwbb

Indiana University women’s basketball junior forward Amanda Cahill was named Big Ten Player of the Week on Monday.

Cahill averaged 17.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game last week in the Hoosiers’ two wins at the Florida Sunshine Classic and scored her 1,000th career point in IU’s win over Stony Brook.

It is the first player of the week honor in the career of the Clyde, Ohio, native, and Cahill becomes the first Hoosier to earn the conference distinction since Tyra Buss on Jan. 18, 2016. The back to back double-doubles last week give Cahill 24 for her career, which is tied for sixth in Indiana history.

The Hoosiers (10-3) open Big Ten play Wednesday at Penn State.

  1. A well deserved honor for a great player. She is our glue! She keeps everything together. We go as she goes. This award for this week will probably not be her last! Go Hoosiers!!

  2. A great honor for a great player and I fully expect her to move up the IU leader board. She is a vital part of our team and the big 3 of our team. One thing that continues to irk me is the lack of respect IUWBB is receiving from the media. Florida had moved up to #28 in the AP , but the simple fact that IU beat them like they did dropped Fl. completely out with not even a single vote , plus the fact IU still does not get a vote[not surprising]. Hopefully IU can open some eyes with a win at penn st. and an upset of the buckeyes on new years eve,, keeping the home streak intact.

  3. I was just over at the buckeye site and they are really playing it up last time they visited assembly hall and how bad it was two years ago 103 to 49 and the fact Buss was 0-10 from the floor, but they dont mention the fact Buss was only a freshman. Hopefully this team has grown in every way since then. But we did also lose at Columbus last year 97-70
