Indiana snapped a three-game road losing streak with a 94-64 win at North Texas on Tuesday.
Tyra Buss led the Hoosiers (5-3) with 21 points. Amanda Cahill finished with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Alexis Gassion, with 15 points, and Kym Royster, 13, also finished in double figures.
IU shot 64 percent from the field, which ranks as the fourth-best shooting performance in school history. That included a 6-of-14 performance from 3-point range.
The Hoosiers jumped out to a 13-0 lead nearly midway through the first quarter. North Texas (2-6) fell behind 20-6 before going on a 9-0 run to end the first period. But IU then outscored the Mean Green 29-7 in the second quarter to take a commanding 49-22 lead into halftime.
Along with their shooting touch, the Hoosiers also dominated North Texas on the glass. They outrebounded the home team, 44-15.
This was also a return home, of sorts, for three Hoosiers who hail from the state of Texas. Freshman Bre Wickware, a native of Denton, Texas, registered five points and five rebounds in 14 minutes of play. Fellow freshman Ria Gulley, from San Antonio, finished with eight points in 19 minutes. Danielle Williams, a sophomore from Fort Worth, played for two minutes but did not take a shot.
