The National Soccer Coaches of America (NSCAA) announced its All-Region teams on Tuesday, with three Hoosiers selected to the All-Midwest teams.
Indiana’s Tanner Thompson and Grant Lillard were named first team All-Region, while Andrew Gutman was named third team All-Region.
A three-time first team All-Region selection, Thompson repeated as Big Ten Midfielder of the Year and earned first team All-Big Ten honors for the third straight season. Thompson led the Hoosiers with 18 points on eight goals and two assists, including four game-winning goals.
A two-time first team All-Big Ten and All-Region selection, Lillard was again one of the best defenders in the nation in 2016. The Hinsdale, Ill., product helped Indiana rack up a Big Ten-best 11 shutouts on the season, while also scoring three goals to go with one assist.
Gutman earned third team All-Region and second team All-Big Ten honors for the Hoosiers in 2016 after helping IU record 11 shutouts and post a goals-against average of 0.70. He also scored one goal and had three assists on the season.
